سايت فدراسيون بين‌المللي فوتبال (فيفا) در گزارشي نوشت: علي دايي با بيان اينكه هنوز قراردادي با فدراسيون فوتبال ايران امضا نكرده است، تهديد كرد تيم ملي را ترك مي‌كند.

دايي ركوردار بيشترين گل زده ملي در جهان در ماه مارس به عنوان سرمربي جديد تيم ملي فوتبال ايران انتخاب شد تا اين تيم را به جام جهاني ‪۲۰۱۰‬ ببرد.

اما اكنون به نظر مي‌رسد كه رابطه مهاجم سابق بايرن مونيخ وعلي كفاشيان رييس فدراسيون فوتبال ايران به پايين حد خود رسيده است.

دايي در اين‌باره گفت: اگر كفاشيان فرصت ندارد در مورد مسابقات دوستانه تيم ملي و قراردادم با من صحبت كند، من هم بيكار نيستم.

وي افزود: من شهرتم را آسان به دست نياورده ام كه اينگونه از دست بدهم.

اگر همه چيز اين چنين پيش برود بايد فكر ديگري بكنيم و آنها بايد فرد ديگري را براي مربيگري تيم ملي انتخاب كنند.

ظاهرا فدراسيون فوتبال ايران نگران است كه دايي با مربيگري همزمان تيم ملي و تيم سايپا نتواند تمام توجه خود را به تيم ملي و مسابقات تداركاتي آن براي جام جهاني ‪ ۲۰۱۰‬جلب كند.

بر اساس گزارش رسانه ها، كه فدراسيون فوتبال ايران براي امضاي قرارداد با دايي منتظر پايان مسابقات فصل جاري ليگ است با وجود اين مقامات فدراسيون اختلاف با دايي را رد كرده و اعلام كرده اند، امضا نكردن قرارداد با او مهم نيست.

مهدي تاج نايب رييس فدراسيون فوتبال ايران در اين‌باره گفت: دايي با مربيگري تيم سايپا و تيم ملي مشغله زيادي داشته و امضا نكردن قرارداد با او مسئله حساسي نيست.

انتخاب دايي به عنوان سرمربي تيم ملي ايران به ماه‌ها خالي بودن اين پست در يكي از بهترين تيم‌هاي فوتبال آسيا پايان داد.

Speaking to reporters on his way to a meeting with the head of Iran’s National Physical Education Organization, Mohammad Aliabadi, Daei blasted the IFF for failing to arrange friendly matches prior to March’s World Cup Qualifier against Kuwait.  

Daei, who was appointed in February, also showed his frustrations regarding the IFF’s apparent reluctance to finalize the coaching staff’s contractual agreements.  

In typical passionate and emotional Daei fashion, he went on to tell reporters that he was just about done with the federation officials “lack of caring” and criticized them for not making the time to meet with him to discuss the national team’s needs in preparation for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. 

“If the federation officials do not have time to meet with me, I do not have much time to waste either.They should select someone else for the job,” Daei said.

“If Ali Kafashian (IFF chief) does not have the time to meet with me to discuss the issues regarding friendly matches and my contract with the federation, then neither do I! 

"If this continues, then we’ll have a problem, and they should consider replacing me with someone whom they like. I do not wish to waste my time and risk my reputation!"

"I’ll be happy with just one friendly, but even that is not yet setup, and my contract is still not finalized. I spoke about these issues before and that has apparently irked a few federation officials

"There never seems to be a shortage of funds when a foreign coach is managing the team. They fly the foreign coaches around in first class,but now they ask me to fly economy to save money!”  

Daei’s tone, however, was different after his meeting with Aliabadi. He seemed more positive and less emotional as he dismissed any concerns regarding the coaching staff’s pending contract agreements.

“It was a very good meeting. Mr. Aliabadi is committed to the success of the national team and will do what he can to ensure a successful qualifying campaign."

"In the meeting, Ali Kafashian promised tospeed up and finalize my contract negotiations.

"The team’s roster and arrangement will definitelychange for the next game. We did not have enough time to prepare for the first leg against Kuwait. But I have watched the films of our opponents, and will continue to monitor the league matches to make sure that we pick the best prepared players.

"In a few weeks the team will camp in Ardabil for a week.We will then play a friendly with a soon to be announced African team."
